Muddy String is considered to be an area located east of Hwy 89 between the present day towns of Thayne and Star Valley Ranch.

It never was considered to be a political entity such as a town or township.

Community of Muddy String Cemetery History: There is no evidence that the community of Muddy String ever had a cemetery.
